6Sight Examines How Digital Imaging Tools Enable “Visual Conversation”

From Traditional Video Conferencing to Sending Photos and Videos
While Talking on Mobile Phones

SAN MATEO, Calif. – October 17, 2006 –  Distance communication, such as a telephone call, can be made much more rewarding, efficient and productive through the addition of photos and videos which provide richer information, overcome language barriers, and carry greater emotional content than voice alone. New products, services, and technologies from advanced mobile phones to next generation video conferencing systems are now bringing these capabilities to the general public by lowering the barriers of price and complexity of use.

At the 6Sight Future of Imaging conference (www.6sight.com) in Monterey, CA. on October 24, the Visual Conversation session will focus on how the advent of easy and accessible tools and services for visual communication will change customer behaviors in the personal, business, and community spheres. The panel will feature:

  • Mark Bole, CEO of Shozu -- whose technology lets mobile phone users easily send and receive images
  • Bob Goldstein, Founder/CEO of AVA Mobile and co-author of the book “Going Visual” (John Wiley & Sons, 2005)
  • Video conferencing expert Alan Greenberg, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research
  • Tim Grey, Microsoft’s Director for Pro Photo Community

“This isn’t just about seeing the person you’re talking with, it’s also about seeing the things you’re talking about,” says the panel’s moderator, Future Image senior analyst, Paul Worthington. “Whether it’s making sure that the product you’re having manufactured half way across the world meets your expectations, or checking with the cook to make sure you’re picking up the right produce at the supermarket, ‘visual conversations’ are clearly the next wave in remote communication. And it’s not just about communicating information accurately; it’s also about making emotionally richer connections.”

This Visual Conversation panel is the culmination of a series of sessions spotlighting visual communication:

  • Multimedia pioneer Kristina Hooper will demonstrate her successes empowering others to fluently "speak with images," in her presentation on “Democratizing Visual Eloquence.”
  • FusionSpark Media President Russell Sparkman will present some of the key concepts in visual communication in “I See What You Mean.”
  • In the “Building the Visual Enterprise“ session Russ Mason, Clear Channel’s Director of Digital Services reveals how a global Fortune 100 company gains competitive advantage and major cost efficiencies by implementing visual communication systems across all its operations — from sales to maintenance, and from IT to accounting.

In addition, attendees at 6Sight (www.6Sight.com) will see demonstrations of new, cutting edge imaging technology by fifteen leading firms, during 6Sight’s three New Technology Showcase sessions. These will include liquid lenses, specialized software-enhanced optics, nanomotors, new flash and image stabilization technologies, new generations of image sensors and imaging software, high-definition videoconferencing and more. They will have the opportunity to converse with the developers of these technologies in a relaxed environment during the event gala reception at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, while enjoying the world-famous displays of marine life, a program of entertainment in the movie theater featuring outstanding examples of user-generated visual content, and an array of gourmet food and refreshments.

What Attendees Say:

WOW, what a great conference!! Excellent content, excellent speakers, excellent facilities and excellent food. And did I mention I made some super contacts too.

Brent Bowyer, President, Independent Photo Imagers

You have managed to assemble a very high calibre set of attendees and we had ample time to network, which was fantastic.

Simon East, CEO, ShoZu

I came here to learn about the market and to evaluate the opportunity for Bellamax. The Summit exceeded my expectations.

Val Carpenter, CMO, Bellamax

We found the show to be informative and insightful in terms of content and extremely valuable in terms of connections and networking opportunities. Our only regret was that we were not able to attend the sessions on Friday and to continue meeting with other attendees.

Kris Ramanathan, Co-CEO, netomat, Inc.

Congrats to you and your team for providing a really awesome event. Your planning, gracious accommodations and flawless execution was appreciated! In addition we achieved all the goals (and then some) that we set out from Sprint's perspective. Thank you for making the venue intimate and allow us real time to discuss and network as we needed.

Mary-Nick Baustert, Sprint

The Summit provided a comfortable environment in which to network with leaders in the industry, and an open atmosphere to exchange information.

Larry Lesley, Sr. VP, Consumer Imaging & Printing, Hewlett-Packard

Thank you for a very good show on all aspects. I met with very high quality and very relevant people, and you've managed to keep a casual and productive spirit among everybody, which is invaluable. Please count us in for the next edition.
